The Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center offers free programs for kids.

A turtle-theme event 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 20 includes making turtle puppets.  Discovery Saturday events are for kids in kindergarten to fifth grades, usually third Saturdays of the month.

Among the exhibits is a mock version of the Aquarius ocean laboratory.

The Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center  is  open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Tuesdays through Saturdays, 305-809-4750.

The venue offers  Discovery Saturday programs the third Saturdays of the month,  featuring  free activities for kids.

The Center is run and sponsored by Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, NOAA, the South Florida Water Management District, Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks, the National Wildlife Refuges of the Florida Keys and Eastern National.

Enjoy a free environmental film festival featuring sharks.

The  free films Sunday April 22

1 p.m. – “Great White Odyssey”

2 p.m. – “Sharks at Risk”

3 p.m. – “Expedition Great White”

4 p.m. – “Dangerous Encounters, Mystery  Shark”

5 p.m. – Award winning documentary “Sharkwater”

Films with environmental themes are shown free outdoors.

The  Wildnight Wednesdays films include April 11 at 6:30 p.m., 305-809-4750

The films are presented at National Key Deer Refuge nature trails parking lot,  Key Deer Blvd, 1/4 mile north of Blue Hole, Big Pine Key.

Popcorn is provided, but supply your own chair.
