Boat Parades Offer Holiday Fun

Several boat parades are launching in the Florida Keys — offering a great opportunity for free fun. With plenty of free music.

Enjoy the sights and sounds from shore, an excursion boat or your own boat.
The parades are
* Saturday, Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m. âHooray For Hollywoodâ Holiday Boat Parade on Blackwater Sound about Mile Marker 104. To register a boat, phone 305-451-4502.
* Saturday, Dec. 12, 8 p.m. Schooner Wharf Bar Lighted Boat Parade in Key West seaport and harbor areas. The parade features music representing Africa, Caribbean island rhythms, reggae, soca, funk and classic soul. For information, phone, 305-292-3302.
Bonus feature — before the boat parade, at 6 p.m. the Gerald Adams Elementary School Steel Your Heart Band performs.
* Sunday, Dec. 13 at dusk; Key Colony Beach Lighted Boat Parade, in the Middle Keys.
The parade kicks at the 7th Street canal and winds in and out of neighboring canals. Great sites for watching include Sadowski Causeway at MM 53.5 oceanside and the area behind City Hall. For information, phone 305-743-7214.
* Saturday, Dec. 19, 7 p.m. Lower Keys Lighted Boat Parade. The recommended sites for watching are Pine Channel Causeway and Parrotdise Waterfront Bar & Grille, 183 Barry Ave. on Little Torch Key. Phone 305-872-0106.
